Elections — The club will hold its annual election of officers and directors at the July 8, 2014 meeting. Members will received ballots by mail and will be able to vote by mail or in person at the meeting. Any eligible members in good standing that wish to be included on the ballot should contact Chad Williams or Michael Mossman by June 24 to be on the mailed ballot. After that date write-ins nominations and votes will be accepted.

The slate of canditates (to date):

  • Chad Williams, president
  • John Saalwaechter
  • Dick Gurley, treasurer
  • Michael Mossman, secretary
  • Earl Brosman, director
  • Bill Dampier, director
  • Chuck Leucht, director
Membership Changes — Erick Roldan is moving to Montana; his aircraft is trailered and ready to go. Wayne Deckard sold his Cessna 172 and has moved out of his hangar. Wayne's enclosed hangar became available. Based on seniority and feasibility Jay Schaumberg will be moving to the enclosed hangar. Mark Rinehart will be moving to Robbie Shelton's former hangar. Michael Wheeler will be moving to Erick Roldan's hangar. Bill Wagner's new ultralight is due to arrive soon and will be located in hangar 40, temporarily occupied by Michael Wheeler.

Treasurer's Report — Checking account balance is $9,245.76, savings account balance is $9,530.96, and the avgas reserve is $3,807.70. We have used 1,370 gallons of avgas. All bills are paid and there are no outstanding balances. All expenses are coming in as budgeted with the exception of auto fuel and propane, which are prepaid. For revenue the club is a bit ahead on hangar rents because many members have paid through to the end of the year.

Mowing Report — Erick Roldan has mowed five or six times. We will need a volunteer for the next mowing. The Dixie Chopper mower is working well; the tow-behind mower has had its share of broken parts but is now working too. The club has a new Echo commercial-grade trimmer, which cost $199. There is a one-gallon fuel can for the trimmer, pre-mixed with oil and ready to go. We will need a volunteer to trim around the runway lights. Earl Brosman will be leaving for the rest of the summer so the club will need an interim mowing coordinator.

Mowing Safety — Mowers should be watching for aircraft that are on final or departing. Mowers should use a handheld radio and headset instead of hearing protection and should equip the mower with a strobe/flasher on the mower. Pilots are cautioned to be more vigilant. If someone is mowing the field the pilots should do a low pass to alert the mower of their intentions. Pilots are reminded that it is there responsibility to see and avoid the mowers. Pilots are also strongly advised against extended finals to landing because the mowers will not know they are coming in.

Property Maintenance — Earl Brosman's trailer is on the property for hauling trash. Members are asked to empty the trailer into the dumpster when before it gets refilled. The airport owner has cleaned up the trash and junk along the east side of the hangars so it is now possible to mow along the east side. The airport owner wants the property to remain clean; no junk or other items are to be stored outside of the hangars. The runway needs the cracks to be sprayed with weed killer. The maintenance hangar door needs to be fixed as the fiberboard gets wet. The club is still looking for a weather station. Earl Brosman has installed a temporary antenna for the UNICOM radio. Gene Hollingsworth donated a hand-held radio.

Volunteer Recognition — Chad Williams publicly recognized the volunteers who helped clean up around the property.

Grass Runway Status — Earl Brosman rolled the grass runway but says that will need to be rolled again when it gets a bit drier. The airport owner will not be planting any crops on the area north of the grass runway. That area is still rough but grass is growing, and the club will need to get it rolled. The holes in the area have been filled and pilots will eventually be able to taxi to the north end of the field in the grass.

Avgas Fuel Report — The south tank was close to empty and the north tank lost its prime. Chad Williams moved some fuel from from the north tank to the south. There still is some more fuel to move. Both pumps are working fine right now.

Auto Gas — Members using the auto fuel system are asked to make sure the valve goes back to the stop. The system had a leak, which was just fixed.

Equipment Needed — Earl Brosman is looking for a set of computer rudder pedals for the flight simulator in the operations building. He would also like to get a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator. The flat screen Samsung TV in the operations building is for sale.

Action Items — Michael Mossman will post a list of action items that will need to be done. Also need some blanks for projects that need to be filled in, sign-off for whomever did them.

New Ratings (almost) — Newer member Bill Dampier moved his Cessna 172 to Greenwood to complete his private pilot's certificate. He still is a tenant here and will be moving his aircraft back when finished with his certificate. He used a blower to remove the rocks from the runway.

Concessions Report — Gene Hollingsworth made a lock box for the concessions money; the club is now profitable on concessions again.

Fly-In Schedule— Michael Mossman posted a list of known regional fly-ins, and will update it monthly. Chuck Leucht reported that the Sheridan fly-in on June 21 has been cancelled due to logistical reasons. Chad Williams reported a good turn-out at the AOPA fly-in at Indy Regional Airport and recommended attending the next one if it is hosted in the area again.

Adjournment — Bill Wagner motioned to adjourn, Charles Westerfield seconded. All voted in favor of adjournment.
