With a quorum declared club vice president John Saalwaechter opened the meeting at about 9:00 a.m.

Runway Report — Earl Brosman reports that there are loose rocks and concrete on the runway. The club will need some latex concrete patch to fill in the holes. There are also several cracks that need sealant. Matt Kriech had a guy evaluate the runway for resurfacing costs, which are projected to be about $150,000. The club will need to get a crew to do some temporary repairs this spring or summer.

Fuel System Report — Don Geisler filled the hole from the underground tank and has planted grass in the area.

Fly-In Planning — Chuck and Pam Leucht will be out of town during the fly-in weekend but have promised to buy the food and set-ups to get the club ready for the event. John Saalwaechter wants the club to stick to the June 16 date.

Young Eagles Planning — Chuck Long reports that he has not been given any lists for Young Eagles flights but the date is still set for June 16 from 12 to 2 p.m. He needs a list of kids from the school superintendent so he can recruit pilots. Matt Kriech reported that he will join the EAA and become a Young Eagles pilot for the event. More volunteers are needed.

Spring Cleaning — Spring Clean-Up Day is set for June 9 after the regular club meeting. Hangar cleaning should be easy this year, with just a sweeping and perhaps hosing down the floor. Most of the junk has been removed. The club will need to do some runway and taxiway maintenance at the same time, along with spin trimming around the runway lights.

Taildraggers Tour — The annual Taildraggers airport tour will be on Saturday, August 11. Participants will rendezvous at Boone County Airport at 8:30 a.m. for a flight briefing with coffee and donuts.

Hangar Door Report — Earl Brosman and Michael Mossman picked up the materials; Jay Holloman has been building the doors in the maintenance hangar. Some of the doors are already hung; the club will need a crew of volunteers to hang doors the next weekend. Earl Brosman says that new tenants to the hangar should provide $1,000 upfront for the materials, payable to BCAA and forwarded to Dick Durley. Projected costs with labor are estimated to come to about $1,250 per hangar space.

Flight School Report — The transponder in the Cherokee 180 trainer is not economically repairable. Cost for a new transponder is about $5,200, installed. Don Geisler wants to move the transponder from his Archer to the Cherokee then get a new one for the Archer.

Mowing Report — Don Geisler will mow the open areas of the property with his large mower. The club will be responsible for the close-in mowing around the buildings and runway lights. Earl Brosman reports that the Dixie Chopper mower is in good condition and will be stored in the third building from the north. It will take about an hour and half to mow the trim around the buildings. The weedeater is stored in the maintenance hangar. Next time out at the airport, members are asked to pick up the weedeater and spin trim the close-up areas around the buildings and runway lights.

AD Notice — Mark Rinehart reports that there is an Airworthiness Directive on the AmeriKing 450 ELT. The AD requires an inspection every year on the ELT.

Treasurer's Report — Dick Gurley replied via email that the club has $8,094 in the checking account and $5,388 in fuel savings. The fuel savings account went down because the club bought fuel. The new avgas price is $4.25 per gallon. Checking account is down because of purchases for the hangar doors. Tenants moving into the enclosed hangar are asked to make their payments on the costs. Gas receipts are creeping up; members using fuel are asked to catch up on their bills. Nearly all tenants are current on their hangar rents.

New Ratings — Josh Long soloed earlier in May. His flight instructor is his father, Chuck Long.

Next Meeting — June 9, 2018, at 9:00 a..m.

Adjournment — John Saalwaechter adjourned the meeting.
