With a quorum declared, Club Treasurer Dick Gurley called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m.

Acceptance of Minutes — The November 2018 meeting minutes were approved by an informal vote.

Treasurer's Report — Checking account balance $3,411.21, Fuel savings balance $7,089.05. Fuel receivables are almost at a record low. Treasurer Dick Gurley reported by email that the club is running low on cash flow and may need to borrow from the fuel savings to meeting year-end expenses. All bills are paid to date, and there is the monthly accounting posted on the training room bulletin board. Gurley added that someone left an envelope with $22 in the strong box for gas and ice cream but did not note who he/she was He asks that the person who did so let him know so he can credit the amount to the proper account.

Dog Roast Report — Chuck Leucht reported that the annual Dog Roast was a huge success; about 50 people attended. Five airplanes flew that evening, and only one package of hot dogs was uneaten.

Plans and Popsicles Report — The club had five airplanes on static display but no one from the public attended. The weather was unseasonably cold that day. Ray Rice placed an ad in the local newspaper but got no response. The year before we called the regional FBOs and had more promotion.

Snow Plowing Report — John Saalwaechter has a snow plow that can go around the hangars; it's a bit small for doing the runway but he has plowed with it before. The blade needs to be adjusted by hand for left for right plowing. Don Geisler is willing to plow the runway again but can't promise the same day response. Ray Rice noted that the club could phone in a NOTAM of runway closures due to weather. Mark Poliak added that the same guy we hired last year would be available as a backup; we would only call him if we needed him for a specific day. Earl Brosman also commented that the club has a large self-propelled snow blower to use clear around hangar doors and walkways.

Club Equipment Report — The club has a propane-powered engine pre-heater available for club member use. It is kept in the storage room and can be powered by a car battery or aircraft battery. The American flag outside of the Operations Building is tattered and needs to be replaced. The weed whacker is missing and needs to be replaced. Earl Brosman thinks that a 21-inch push mower would be better for the club than a weed whacker. The club needs a five or six-foot ZTR mower for most of the mowing work. If we get a new engine for about $1,300 the Dixie Chopper should be in good shape.

INDOT Inspection — The airport recently had its annual inspection by the Indiana Department of Transportation and had a few squawks. Ray Rice and his son Will fixed the light on the wind sock and signed off on the documents. Members commented that the runway lights are really nice and easy to see for miles since being upgraded with LED bulbs.

Fuel Report - Our avgas tank is about 50% full. The fuel pump is working well and the new numbers are easy to read. The pump sometimes loses its prime. When that happens, members are asked to zero it twice, at that corrects the problem. The small meter at the end of the hose no longer works; Earl Brosman is going to take it off. The main meter is within two percent. John Saalwaecther will buy a new meter for the end of the hose. The club conducted a discussion about Swift fuels. Earl Brosman has tried contact them about three or four times but has not had a return phone call. Our auto fuel is 91 octane and is ethanol-free. We need to sell the remaining fuel or run out the batch because it is getting old. The current auto fuel price if $3.67 per gallon.

Hangar Rentals — Ray Rice motioned that the club consider renting some of the vacant hangar spaces for non-aircraft use to raise some needed cash. The idea would be to dedicate one building for boats, small trailers, etc., and not mix non-aviation use with airplanes. The rent would be a one-time use for six months; once in and once out, and is only a one-time deal for this winter. No "visiting" or repairs would be permitted, and the renter would need to be escorted in and out by a club member. John Saalwaecther seconded the motion. All voted in favor. Ray will research for a competitive price and will ask his attorney to generate a simple storage contract.

Hangar Doors — Mark Van Zant was going to write a check for the doors on his hangar or pay a higher rent. Earl Brosman likes the amortized method better; Ray Rice will check with Dick Gurley to see if he paid for the doors. John Saalwaechter would like to see a spreadsheet on the benefits and costs of a new hangar.

Aircraft for Sale — Don Geisler wants to sell the Cherokee 180 that he bought for the flight school. Ray Rice is looking to put together a partnership to buy it. Michael Wheeler's Cessna 150 is also available.

Holiday Party Planning — The club noted that January is usually better for most members because everyone is busy during December. The party date was set for January 12, 2019, with an alternative of January 19. Ray Rice will check to see if Matt Kreich's brewery is available. The party hours will be the same as last year with a short business meeting at the start.

Runway Maintenance — Earl Brosman found a company that was willing to fill the runway cracks for about $10,500, which is out of our price rance.

Mouse Control — Earl Brosman asks that the club not put out mouse and rat poison this year because he has a cat. Earl will buy sticky traps and make them available to put in airplanes. The traps should not be baited so they don't draw mice towards aircraft.

Next Meeting — Saturday, December 8, 2018, 9:00 a.m.

Adjournment — Ray Rice adjourned the meeting
