With a quorum declared, club president Matt Kriech opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. EDT

Treasurer's Report — Checking Account balance is $15,365.90; Fuel Savings balance is $846.20. The club just bought a load of avgas for $5,600. The price of avgas will remain the same at $4.50 per gallons. Only one member is in arrears on rent; Michael Mossman to send out a letter asking for payment. Only major expenses for the month are $1,200 for paint and $300 for miscellaneous supplies. The club is a little bit ahead on cash flow this year due to volunteers mowing the property, as opposed to hiring it. Matt Krieck offered the club's thanks for Dick's years of service as treasurer. Chuck Long will take over as treasurer this coming year.

Mowing Report — The club has three working riding mowers; members are invited to come for a mower check-out then mow. With three mowers, volunteers can get the grass cut in about two hours each. Earl Brosman does not want to store mower gas in the maintenance hangar; volunteers should pump gas from the mogas tank. Earl will get more keys made for the volunteers.

Powered Parachute Event — Jason Dodd reports that to date 35 people are signed up for the Powered Parachute Event. The club asks that attendees do not come early as the club will need to maintain the property during the time before the event. Matt Kriech and Ray Rice will reach out to the property owner for more guidance on the utilization of the airport property.

AirVenture 2021 Planning — Earl Brosman will be bringing his camper to Oshkosh and camping for about 10 days. Earl invites club members to come stay with him. John Saalwaechter is likely to go, too.

Other Events — Mark Poliak will be hosting the Quiet Birdmen party August in the Maintenance Hangar.

Property Maintenance — Earl Brosman presented a list of additional maintenance items that did not get accomplished from the club Maintenance Day in May. After a brief reading Earl noted that he would post the items on the bulletin board and add them to the minutes. Those items are:

  • Repair loose metal on roof peak
  • Remove birds nests from above airplanes
  • Repair asphalt at hump in taxiway
  • Load barrels of ash on truck to take to dump
  • Label circuit breaker box

Club Elections — The club will conduct its annual election of officers and directors at the July 8, 2021 meeting. All regular members in good standing will be eligible to vote, and are encouraged to run for an office or director position. The current slate of candidates is:
  • Matt Kriech, president
  • Ray Rice, vice president
  • Chuck Long, treasurer
  • Michael Mossman, secretary
  • Earl Brosman, director
  • Kevin Hoffer, director
  • John Saalwaechter, director
Michael Mossman will mail ballots about two weeks before the July meeting. Anyone wishing to be considered as a candidate should let Michael know of their intentions prior to the mailing.

Runway Discussion — Gene Hollingsworth and Dennis Paradise objected to the grass strip being closed in the evenings by the Powered Parachute operators. The club held a discussion on how to best utilize the grass by both certificated aircraft and ultralight operators. Although the powered parachute operators have been using painted barrels to show when they are operating, the barrels are not visible from the air. Suggestions offered including having a flag to show when they are operating or having a large "X" of painted boards to leave on the tiedown area. All operators are reminded that the while the FAA does not prohibit operating from the grass, it is not a runway due to its closeness to the hard surface. Therefore, operators can use the grass at their own risk.

Adjournment — Matt Kriech moved to adourn at 8:00 p.m., Earl Brosman seconded.
