Discussion — Mark Poliak spoke about the Westfield Airport zoning issue and reported that a similar issue could happen at Boone County Airport. A developer's proposal presented to the Westfield City Council for a 55+ residential single family home community would change the zoning from Agricultural to Residential when the city plan has the area around the airport recommended for commercial and light industrial zoning. As presented, the council can override recommendations by FAA PArt 77 runway design standards and the INDOT 150' from centerline setback for structures due to the fact that the airport is privately owned, not public owned, even though it is a public use airport. The local EAA Indy Flyers Chapter 1527 has offered information and comments, as well as those provided by the Wheeler family. At the last council meeting, the project was postponed to gather further information from the FAA and airport.
