Club president Ray Rice brought the meeting to order at 7:09 p.m.

Approval of Minutes — Mark Poliak moved to approve the minutes from the July 14, 2022 meeting; Kevin Hoffer seconded. All voted in favor of approval.

Club Equipment — Ray Rice bought a new wind sock; Mark Poliak installed it at the north end of the runway. The old mower need minor maintenance. The mower with the repaired engine needs belts and a clutch; John Saalwaechter took it to Reynolds and got new belts. A John Deere clutch costs $500; an aftermarket clutch might be cheaper. Earl Brosman is concerned about spending a lot of money on a clutch when the engine is "patched together," however it is running well. Mark Poliak estimates it would take less than an hour to replace the clutch.

Building Report — The roof is coming off of a hangar. Kevin Hoffer spoke with a guy at a roofing company. They will repair each end of the hangar for $600, and will tack down the metal sheets on the next hangar for $1,000 total. One hangar building not addressed in the quote has some timbers tied down with ropes and needs further repairs. Ray Rice requested a re-quote for repairs on all three of the northernmost hangar buildings. Kevin will contact the roofing company and ask that he meet with Earl Brosman to look over the job.

Runway Report — The airport recently had its inspection and a few runway lights were not working. Steve Cook, Reese Dodd and Earl Brosman fixed them. Earl will need to take a few photos of them in operation and send to Ray Rice, who will forward them to the FAA to show that the runway is in compliance. Earl noted that some of the glass globes are broken and are no longer manufactured, but he occasionally sees them available on eBay.

Fuel System Report — The underground fuel tank system is coming due for its IDEM inspection. Earl Brosman did the on-line training; Ray Rice did his a few years ago. The avgas fuel pump is not working. Earl brought in a guy from a company, who ordered part but it didn't fix it. Earl called him back, as the pump was flashing an error code. He changed the battery but it didn't fix it, so we will need another service call. The club will have a repair bill to pay for the pump.

Building Painting — At the July 2022 meeting the club approved Earl Brosman hiring Reese Dodd to paint one hangar to get an idea of the time involved. Reese is back in school but is still interested in finishing the job if he has time.

Treasurer's Report — Checking account balance is $7,357.98; fuel savings balance is $135.33. Receivables for fuel purchases are $5,180.25; the club asks that fuel buyers get caught up on their purchases, as the club had higher-than-normal fuel purchase cost in July, depleting the cash reserves. Chuck Long motioned to raise the price of fuel for this load to $7.00 per gallon; Ray Rice seconded; all voted in favor.

Hangar Rent Report — Chuck Long reported that only a few members are four or more months behind on hangar rent. Michael Mossman will send out letters asking that members in arrears catch up their accounts. Chapter officers reported that they have heard no unfavorable comments on the maintenance fee.

Aircraft Transactions — Dennis Paradise is selling his Aeronca Chief. If interested please contact Dennis directly at 317-681-4896 or dennisparadise25@gmail.com.

Former Member Update — Former associate member Josh Long, son of Chuck Long, now has 1,700 hours of flight time and just started officers training in the Air Force, with the intention of flying fighters. He will start Air Force flight training soon.

EAA Chapter Report — Brett Pritchett took over EAA Chapter 1311; the EAA website says that the chapter is in Boone County but Brett has access to nothing. The chapter did not update its not for profit status before transferring so Brett needs to wait for that to be re-instated before EAA headquarters will recognize anything the local members have done. To date the chapter has spent about $1,000 out of pocket for relocation expenses but can't charge dues or hold official elections. Brett is trying to find a fuselage they can tow to events to try to spark some kids interest. Dennis Paradise donated some scratch-built parts for a Hatz biplane to the chapter. The chapter also received some donations for simulator software, rudder pedals, controls, and other items.

Westfield Airport Report — Mark Poliak spoke about how a real estate developer was forced to back up his plans and relocated to another setting after facing some rezoning issues around Westfield Airport. The discussion the shifted to how future development around 6I4 could limit the use of the runway, although currently not an issue.

Swift Fuel Report — Swift Fuel has an STC available for their 94 octane no-lead aviation fuel. Swift has set up a GoFundMe account, where an aircraft owner could get an STC for their 100 octane fuel for $100. Swift's 100 octane no-lead fuel is currently waiting on FAA approval.

Fly-Ins — Timberhouse weekend of August 20. Details not announced.

Powered Parachute event — The powered parachute fly-in event is scheduled for August 19 through 21 at Boone County Airport. Jason Dodd and Matt Kriech are spearheading it, separate from Boone County Airport Association, but the event can always use some more volunteers from the club.

Dog Roast — The club will host the annual Dog Roast on Saturday, October 8, starting around 4:30 p.m. Earl Brosman will get the supplies. Members are encouraged to volunteer to support the event, including maintenance hangar clean-up, table and chair set-up, locating firewood, hay bales, cleaning the office and restrooms, and other general chores.

Next meeting — The next regular meeting of the Boone County Airport Association is on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.

Adjournment — Mark Poliak motioned to adjourn, Ray Rice seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
